Big Boy is a nationally syndicated radio personality and popular icon best known for hosting his hip hop morning show Big Boy’s Neighborhood through Citadel Media. Originally airing only on Los Angeles hip hop/R&B station KPWR, every weekday morning Big Boy and his neighborhood crew wake listeners up with non-stop fun, humor and BIG entertainment.
Born in Chicago, Big Boy was raised in Culver City, California the sixth of seven children. After college, he took a job with alternative west coast rap group Pharcyde as their bodyguard. This adventurous experience (most often on the
road) piqued Big Boy’s curiosity in the world of entertainment and solidified his
interest and experience in the Hip Hop music culture.
Always a funny personality, Big Boy was offered his first radio hosting position in1994. Throughout the years, Big Boy has dominated the ratings in all of the timeslots he has previously occupied, including nights, afternoons, and of course mornings.
Big Boy has received numerous industry accolades throughout his successful radio career. He has been named Personality of the Year four times by the Radio Music Awards and six times from Radio & Records. The National Association of Broadcasters also recognized Big Boy’s exceptional talent with two Marconi Awards in 2002 and 2004.
Big Boy has made numerous cameos in movies such as The Longest Yard, Charlie’s Angels 2, and even co-starred in Deuce Bigelow: Male Gigolo. His TV appearances include VH-1’s I Love New York, For the Love of Ray-J, HBO’s Entourage and many more.
Though his humor has stayed the same throughout the years, his size hasn’t. In the fall of 2003, Big Boy had duodenal switch stomach surgery and lost more than 250 pounds.
